Brandon Marsh Battling sprained finger
Tue, May 26, 2026, 10:31 PM
Marsh was diagnosed with a right middle finger sprain following his removal from Tuesday's game against San Diego, Paul Casella of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Marsh suffered the injury sliding back into first base while getting picked off in the first inning. He's slated to undergo further evaluation, and a timeline for his return will likely take shape once the Phillies get his results back. He can be considered day-to-day in the meantime, though Edmundo Sosa could be in line for extra starts in the outfield if Marsh has to sit.

Brandon Marsh Exits with injury
Tue, May 26, 2026, 9:47 PM
Marsh was removed from Tuesday's game against the Padres with an apparent hand injury, Paul Casella of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Marsh's hand seemed to be bothering him after he was picked off at first base in the first inning, and he was eventually taken out of the game in the fourth. The severity of his injury remains unknown, but the Phillies may provide more information in the near future after they've taken a closer look at him. Edmundo Sosa would figure to be next in line to start in the outfield if Marsh has to miss time.
Kyle Schwarber
Kyle Schwarber Drives 21st homer
Mon, May 25, 2026, 11:20 PM
Schwarber went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Monday's victory over San Diego.
Analysis: Schwarber added to his MLB-leading home-run total by launching a Griffin Canning changeup over the right-field wall for a solo shot in the first inning. The veteran slugger has been on an outrageous tear of late, crushing 10 homers across his past 14 games and showing little sign of slowing down. Overall, Schwarber is slashing .233/.354/.617 with 21 homers, 37 RBI, 35 runs and a stolen base across 51 contests.
Jhoan Duran
Jhoan Duran Secures 10th save
Mon, May 25, 2026, 11:08 PM
Duran picked up the save in Monday's 3-0 victory over the Padres. He allowed a hit and no walks while striking out one over a scoreless inning.
Analysis: Duran retired the side with minimal resistance, as a Ty France two-out single was all the Padres could muster while the fireballing right-hander secured his 10th save of the campaign. It has largely been dominance in 2026 for Duran, who has allowed runs in just three of his 16 outings, resulting in a 1.72 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 24:5 K:BB across 15.2 innings with no blown saves. He trails only Mason Miller (16), Riley O'Brien (13) and Paul Sewald (12) on the National League saves leaderboard.
Jesus Luzardo
Jesus Luzardo Escapes early jam in fourth win
Mon, May 25, 2026, 10:52 PM
Luzardo (4-4) earned the win Monday, allowing four hits, two walks and a hit batsman over six scoreless innings in a 3-0 victory over the Padres. He struck out six.
Analysis: Luzardo found himself in a bases-loaded jam with no outs in the first inning, but he escaped unscathed by striking out Manny Machado and Jackson Merrill before inducing a weak groundout from Nick Castellanos. From there, Luzardo was able to navigate the remainder of the outing effectively en route to his third scoreless start of the season. The southpaw will carry a 4.38 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 72:17 K:BB across 61.2 innings (11 starts) into his next outing, tentatively scheduled for Sunday against the Dodgers.
Andrew Painter
Andrew Painter Sharp again despite loss
Sun, May 24, 2026, 4:04 PM
Painter (1-5) took the loss Sunday against the Guardians, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out three.
Analysis: Painter held Cleveland scoreless through his first four innings Sunday, though he'd ultimately give up a run in both the fifth and the sixth, which proved enough to stick him with the loss in an eventual 3-1 defeat. The 23-year-old Painter has delivered back-to-back quality starts while allowing just five runs over 17.1 innings in his last three outings after struggling to a 9.33 ERA in his previous four appearances. Overall, Painter's lowered his ERA to 5.40 with a 1.46 WHIP and 40:16 K:BB across 50 innings. He's currently in line for a tough road matchup with the Dodgers his next time out.
Justin Crawford
Justin Crawford Idle against southpaw
Sun, May 24, 2026, 11:27 AM
Crawford is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.
Analysis: The Phillies are opting to give the left-handed-hitting Crawford the afternoon off while the Guardians send a tough lefty in Parker Messick to the hill. Brandon Marsh will slide over from his usual spot in left field to cover center field in place of Crawford.
Bryce Harper
Bryce Harper Powers win with three hits
Sat, May 23, 2026, 10:18 PM
Harper went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Guardians.
Analysis: The Phillies managed just seven hits in total, but after flying out in the first inning, Harper made himself a consistent nuisance on the basepaths for Cleveland pitching, although he was caught stealing in the seventh. It was the slugging first baseman's fourth game in May with three or more hits, and on the month Harper is batting .297 (22-for-74) with four doubles, six homers, three steals, 12 RBI and 15 runs in 21 contests.
Jhoan Duran
Jhoan Duran Bounces back with ninth save
Sat, May 23, 2026, 10:13 PM
Duran gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his ninth save of the season in a 3-0 win over the Guardians.
Analysis: One day after serving up a game-winning homer to Kyle Manzardo in a 1-0 loss, Duran was locked in and fired 16 of 20 pitches for strikes as he remained a perfect 9-for-9 in converting save chances on the season. The right-hander sports a 2.25 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB through eight innings since making an early May return from an oblique strain.
Zack Wheeler
Zack Wheeler Blanks Guardians for fourth win
Sat, May 23, 2026, 10:09 PM
Wheeler (4-0) picked up the win Saturday, allowing two hits and a walk over six scoreless innings in a 3-0 win over the Guardians. He struck out six.
Analysis: The veteran right-hander fired 64 of 99 pitches for strikes as he delivered his fifth straight quality start since the calendar flipped to May. Wheeler has a dazzling 1.38 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 30:5 K:BB through 32.2 innings on the month, and he'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next weekend against the Dodgers.
Jhoan Duran
Jhoan Duran Serves up game-winning homer Friday
Fri, May 22, 2026, 9:34 PM
Duran (1-2) took the loss Friday, giving up a run on two hits in the ninth inning of a 1-0 loss to the Guardians. He struck out one.
Analysis: Called in to protect a 0-0 tie, Duran instead served up a game-winning solo shot to Kyle Manzardo on a first-pitch splitter that caught too much of the plate. It was the first home run Duran has allowed this season, and while he does have two losses, the Phillies closer is a perfect 8-for-8 in converting save chances while posting a 1.98 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 22:5 K:BB through 13.2 innings.
Cristopher Sanchez
Cristopher Sanchez Extends scoreless streak Friday
Fri, May 22, 2026, 9:22 PM
Sanchez didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 1-0 loss to the Guardians, scattering four hits and two walks over eight scoreless innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: Cleveland couldn't even get a runner into scoring position against Sanchez, but the southpaw was matched by an equally outstanding performance from Gavin Williams, and the game was still tied 0-0 heading into the ninth inning. Sanchez got lifted after 96 pitches (60 strikes) and had to watch as Jhoan Duran served up the game-winning homer to Kyle Manzardo. Sanchez didn't get the win, but he did extend his scoreless streak to a stunning 37.2 innings -- the second-longest streak ever by a Phillie, behind only Hall of Famer Grover Cleveland Alexander's 41-inning streak in 1911. He'll look to make franchise history in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week in San Diego.
Kyle Schwarber
Kyle Schwarber Returning after three-game absence
Fri, May 22, 2026, 2:08 PM
Schwarber (illness) will start at designated hitter and bat second in Friday's game against the Guardians.
Analysis: Schwarber missed all three games of this week's series against the Reds while battling a stomach bug, but he's well enough to give it a go in Friday's series opener versus Cleveland. The slugger leads all of baseball with 20 home runs this season.
Kirby Snead
Kirby Snead Lands in Philadelphia on MiLB deal
Fri, May 22, 2026, 8:35 AM
Snead signed a minor-league contract with the Phillies on Saturday.
Analysis: The Phillies assigned Snead to Triple-A Lehigh Valley and he made his organizational debut Thursday, striking out the lone batter he faced. The 31-year-old lefty holds a lifetime 5.09 ERA and 1.70 WHIP over 79 career appearances in the majors from 2021 through 2024 across stops with the Blue Jays, Athletics and Mariners.
Trea Turner
Trea Turner Busy on basepaths in loss
Wed, May 20, 2026, 3:23 PM
Turner went 1-for-2 with two walks, a run scored and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 9-4 loss to the Reds.
Analysis: Both steals came off the battery of lefty Andrew Abbott and catcher P.J. Higgins, but the rest of the Phillies lineup couldn't do much with the opportunities Turner created. The shortstop has hit safely in seven straight games, batting .267 (8-for-30) and eight runs while collecting four of his nine steals on the season during that stretch.
Aaron Nola
Aaron Nola Stuck with fourth loss
Wed, May 20, 2026, 3:18 PM
Nola (2-4) took the loss Wednesday as the Phillies fell 9-4 to the Reds, giving up four runs on eight hits over five innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.
Analysis: The veteran right-hander got tagged for three runs in the second inning, and while he left the mound after 77 pitches (55 strikes) without any homers or free passes allowed, the Phillies weren't able to climb out of that early hole. Nola has failed to record an out in the sixth inning in six of his last seven starts, and last year's struggles (6.01 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 17 regular-season starts) may have simply been a harbinger of further decline. Nola will take a 6.04 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 51:18 K:BB through 50.2 innings into his next outing, which should come on the road early next week in San Diego.
Justin Crawford
Justin Crawford Idle for series finale
Wed, May 20, 2026, 10:11 AM
Crawford is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Crawford will receive a breather while the Reds send southpaw Andrew Abbott to the bump for a day game after a night game. Brandon Marsh will slide over from his usual spot in left field to cover center field in place of Crawford, who is batting .245 with two home runs, five stolen bases, seven RBI and four runs through his first 18 games of May.
Kyle Schwarber
Kyle Schwarber Out for third straight game
Wed, May 20, 2026, 9:21 AM
Schwarber (illness) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Unless the Phillies turn to him off the bench for a pinch-hitting appearance Wednesday, Schwarber will wind up missing the entire three-game series against Cincinnati after coming down with a stomach ailment Monday. With a team off day on tap Thursday, Schwarber should have a good chance at returning to the lineup in the Phillies' series opener versus the Guardians on Friday. Before falling ill, Schwarber had been in the midst of an impressive power binge, slugging nine home runs over his last 10 starts.
Trea Turner
Trea Turner Belts fifth homer
Wed, May 20, 2026, 8:09 AM
Turner went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Reds.
Analysis: The start shortstop spoiled Chase Burns' shutout bid by taking the right-hander deep in the third inning. Turner snapped a 16-game power drought with the blast and he's hit safely in six straight games, although he's batting just .250 (7-for-28) during that stretch. On the season, he's slashing a disappointing .236/.285/.357 with five homers, seven steals, 16 RBI and 31 runs in 48 contests.
Jesus Luzardo
Jesus Luzardo Stuck with loss in quality start
Wed, May 20, 2026, 8:05 AM
Luzardo (3-4) took the loss Tuesday as the Phillies fell 4-1 to the Reds, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: The southpaw tossed 95 pitches (58 strikes) en route to his second straight quality start and his fifth of the year in 10 trips to the mound, but Luzardo got little run support with Chase Burns pitching just a little bit better opposite him. After a rough start to the season, Luzardo has a 2.73 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 36:10 K:BB over his last 33 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column for the first time since May 3 in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road early next week in San Diego.
